Join River for Japanese hand embroidery, Sashiko intro mixed with mending to make beautiful intentional stitches to revitalize your loved clothing and textile goods.

Bring 2-5 well loved textile items from home (clothing, home decor, bags, etc) that need mending and join River Takada as she helps troubleshoot and guide the group through the many different techniques of textile repair.  We will use scraps of fabric to patch and thread to embellish- we will bring your beloved items back from the mending pile of doom so they can continue to be utilized for years to come.  We will cover many basic hand sewing techniques to mend and repair items.  Supplies such as needle, thread, scrap fabric, and scissors will be provided. We may not get to mend every item you bring in the 3 hour workshop, since each mend takes a different amount of time, but we will talk about what steps and supplies are needed for you to continue your hand sewing and mending journey. 

This workshop is a blend of my typical Sashiko Workshop where we stitch just a sampler, and my typical Mending workshop where we just mend things. The “Visible Mending & Sashiko” will bring the utilitarian and aesthtic together to focus for 3 hours on making your own one-of-a-kind Wearble Art pieces.
