Sashiko & visible mending

Learn the time-honored Japanese Sashiko techniques to embellish or visibly mend. I provide indigo dyed linen to practice and make a patch! Learn to work with your coveted fabric scraps to turn them into beautiful stitched art. Students will learn hand stitching techniques inspired by Japanese Boro visible mending and Sashiko (Japanese embroidery). For a more indepth and advanced workshop- Choose from the instructor’s wide range of hand dyed fabric samples to create a small Slow Stitch Sample. This is the perfect time to sit down and set your hands to a meaningful task. Supplies include hand sewing needles, Sashiko thread, Sashiko stitching handouts, hand dyed fabric scraps, etc.

Work by the hour at your home or at a community space. Offering classes at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Max 6 people. Looking for one-on-one classes? I’m happy to work on whatever project you have in mind! You can Book Now right here to book a private lesson through Setmore. I am happy to host your lesson at my studio residency, Observable Universe (ends July 2024), another community space closer to you. I offer kids sewing classes and summer camps.
