Kids Workshops
News Update: After 9 years of teaching summer camp at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, I will no-longer be teaching there since I have moved 45 minutes away- the commute is no longer economical. Starting in the Summer of 2024, I will be teaching summer camp in Durham, primarily at Freeman’s Creative. Kids and Teens summer camp schedule will be available in March 2024.
I would love to work with you and yours to sew! Work by the hour at your home or at a community space. Booking single, double and group private sessions now~
kids craft workshops
Hosting the best birthday party ever? Looking for a fun summer day activity in the back yard? Wanting child care for a few hours/days with a focus on building motor skills and creating art?
River teaches mixed media classes to age groups 7-18. Rates vary depending on intensity of child care. It is preferred that an adult accompanies me for assistance with large groups.
Workshops can includesewing by hand or on a machine; dyeing fabric: Indigo Dyeing, Tie Dye or Ice Dyeing; Surface Design fun like block printing or screen-printing, mixed media: Collage, sculpture, etc.
Kids Classes are 3 hours long, snacks must be provided by parents/primary care givers!
Parents & Kids
Want to be creative with the little ones in your life- spend time together learning and trouble shooting the many joys and pitfalls of sewing. Sewing is a hard and rewarding thing to do- and kids can learn lots of vaulable skills while having fun! The pride new-learners feel when they complete a project is un-matched!
In this adult and kids summer camp, we will cover sewing basics, tips and tricks, supply shopping and pattern reading. Hand outs provided for projects so you can do it again beyond this camp.
Perfect for quilting projects, home decor, clothing making, and Halloween costumes!
