Let’s Collaborate

Here at RIVTAK Handmade, I have allowed for lots of space to experiment and flex my creative muscles. My team does specialized fabrication for many different projects, including set design, garment sample making, custom dyeing, small run production, private lessons, group workshops (private and public), and the list goes on.

Do you have a project you need help getting off the ground? Perhaps a product you want to be seen out in the world? Or a big idea and need guidance on how to get started or help finding the right people to do the job? I might not be able to do the whole project with you from start to finish, but with my 15+ years of fabrication, sewing, dyeing, printing and teaching; I want to work with you to achieve your vision!

I choose to partner with brands that are 100% in line with my values of being ethical, socially and environmentally responsible. I work with companies of all sizes and across many niches.

The different ways to go about things:

A True Collaboration: We get together and you pitch me on a project idea we can work together on. A Pitch should include: Budget, Time Frame, Goals, Audience, etc. We discuss what we each bring to the table, then we divide and conquer. Once the budget is approved on both sides to achieve our goals, a detailed timeline with group deadlines and check points are set. We get to work together or doing our parts separately. The Design process is something we both have input on. Deposits are paid so I can buy supplies and get to work fabricating the joint design to hit deadlines. My name and business name is apart of all credits and presentations.

Private Label Work: Private Label is when you as a designer or business want me to make items you designed that will be released and sold under your name and label. You are hiring me to fabricate your idea as a bulk order. I adhere to your design and am paid for labor, either by piece or by the hour. All supply costs are covered upfront by you and your company. If you would like me to source supplies, that labor is also invoiced to you. Invoices must be paid upon receipt for the project to move forward. Any fabric, tags, packaging must be ordered on your side and delivered to me. My name is not part of the public facing launch, as this is your design and idea. See the typical rate sheet here.

Hire Me to Teach a Lesson or Workshop: Private or Public, I would love to hear about your idea! I have taught private groups for Birthdays, Baby Showers, Wedding parties, Book Clubs; for kids and adults. Prices for workshops range depending on number of attendees, supplies and length of workshop. I have taught big public events of 300+ attendees over 4-5 hours community events. I teach regularly scheduled workshops at universities and art centers to build community engagement. I have taught creative team building workshops for corporate teams and teacher trainings. The possibilities are endless. I need to know WHERE, WHEN, HOW MANY People and Budget. We can make, mending, dye and print items you supply! See the basic rate sheet here.

A Commission/Sample Item: You have a project and want to hand off the sewing/dyeing/printing part to me. I want to know all about your vision, either I will order supplies; pattern, fabric, ink colors (cost of which will be paid as a part of the deposit upfront), etc; or you can provide me with all the supplies (like family heirloom fabric)`. I will invoice you for the labor time of the commissioned project. In a commission, we will work on one - three items that you have done the “design work” on, and plan to keep for yourself or gift to someone and I will fabricate your vision! This could be a garment, quilt, installation, printed item, or an upcycle project for an heirloom, etc. There are some items I don’t take on as commissions, like mending or tailoring, but I am happy to set up a Private Lesson with you to teach you the skills to work on your own projects. See rate sheet.

Consultation: You want to pick my brain. You have an idea and need some expert advice on how to get started and want to hear how I would go about doing things. This may be about selling product, launching a line, being a working artist or just an interview to collect data on how I run my business. This can be done in person, through an email interview or a virtual meeting. Anything over 15min. will be billed and you will need to pay in advance to reserve your meeting time, mainly to prevent last minute cancellations/ghosting. In a consultation, I will ask you about your budget, timeline, audience, goals, etc- Please think of all these things and do appropriate prep before we chat so I can help you set realistic goals and answer SPECIFIC questions you have, thus using our time wisely.

What I DON’T do: Tailoring/Altering/Hemming (See Private Lesson); Wedding Attire (I will consult you on your idea but do not make or alter wedding attire); Read Minds (seriously, I’ve tried, but if you aren’t able to communicate your idea, budget, plans, etc, I can not help you at this time); Sell other people’s designs or products on my website unless it is a collaboration.
