1pm-5pm
Dedicate some time to planning, starting, or assembling quilts or quilt garments! We'll start with quilting history and inspiration quilts and images as we explore quilting by hand and machine. If you have quilt blocks or components, bring those as well as any ideas and inspiration. We will work through a number of small sample blocks, and travel wherever the inspiration leads! Students should be comfortable sewing independently.
* We will not be assembling full size quilts, but can go over any techniques of interest in a sample scale.
Instructor: River Takada
Supplies:
-Bring any quilt blocks, patterns, books, inspiration, scrap fabric, or other supplies you would like to incorporate into your quilt exploration. We will start off with improv pieced blocks, which could become a future quilt, tote bag, pillow, or part of a garment.
-Machine sewing thread
-A fresh machine needle
Bring your own machine in good, working condition or rent a classroom machine. Our classroom has all basic sewing supplies, but students may prefer to bring their own kit (scissors, pins, marking tools, measuring tools)
