- Wednesday, 4/10- Hapa Zome at Hub Farm in N. Durham. 1-4pm. Learn about Natural Dyes and the technique of plant pounding to create prints on fabric! Sign up with sliding scale! -Sunday, 4/21- Sashiko at Peel Gallery in Carrboro. 12-2pm. Learn the basics of this heritage craft, all supplies included. Sign up here for sashiko. -Friday, 4/26- Sashiko at Durham Arts Council. 6-8pm. Start your weekend off strong with this informative introduction to Japanese Emberoidery. Mark Your Calendars! The middle weekend of April is full of Durham art magic. Saturday, April 13th, the Scrap Exchange is hosting an early Earth Day celebration and I’ll be there Tabling with Observable Universe making collages. Other businesses in Lakewood will be participating and there will be Goats! |

Private Lessons: One-on-one slots are very limited, but still open! Almost all my weekends are filled up for spring, but you can still grab a few dates now. Once books are full, they will be closed for the remainder of Spring and Summer, and will reopen in August for the fall 2024. See photos below for what kind of projects students choose to work on.

Beginner Quilting one-on-one with Nina- 2 sessions (total 4 hours). In the first session we covered the basics of making quilt squares and using the machine. Nina went home and made 2 mini quilts!! Then the second session, we sewed on the binding and added hanging loops! |

Spring Break Sewing lessons: Lots of people are on spring break throughout the month so It’s been fun to sew- like this student who wanted to make a circle skirt- we finished this project in just over 2 hours! It was her first time sewing on the machine! (bring your own supplies, or purchase from my stash.) |

Observable Universe:
March’s Collage night was so fun- lots of new folks came through and had a ball looking through our stash of paper. Got some old magazines you need to clear- we’d love to replenish our stash! April Collage night is TBA. (But it’ll be on a weeknight as usual). |

Recent work: I’ve been taking creative workshops! It’s so fun to join a group of strangers for a few hours, learn from an expert and play with materials! This past month I took the time to just play, experiment and make for myself.

I took a 2-day workshop at Sawtooth School in Winston-Salem. It was Wire Sculpture- and I’m so happy I took the time to experiment with this material more! |

Last year, we got a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) from One Soil Farm, a woman and Jewish owned farm! The produce were amazing and we got so much food from April thru October! Highly Recommend! Sign ups are open until April 8th |

I love getting flowers from the growers, but getting to the farmer’s market can be a struggle, so thankfully we have the Piedmont Wholesale Flowers market in Durham! They recently moved their market to Perfect Lovers on N. Roxboro St! |

My favorite read of the month: Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li I love books that combine art history, intrigue, inter-personal relationships and a bonus if if explores that diaspora of Asian American culture- and this book has it all!
Also, the author, Grace D. Li, went to Duke University and so do 2 of the main characters, one of them is a street racer! Made me giggle! Highly recommend! |
