Intro to Sewing- Intuitive Patchwork Piecing

Intro to Sewing

Wednesday, January 10 6-8 pm

In this two hour class, students will learn all the basic steps to sewing by machine, including how to set up their machine, adjust the settings, and sew straight lines.  Students will design and stitch their own patchwork block, which can then be used to sew a simple tote bag, pillow, or apron.

Instructor: River Takada-Capel

Required Materials:

(3x) 1/4 yd lightweight woven fabric (quilting cotton, linen)

1/2 yd midweight-heavyweight woven fabric (denim, linen, canvas)

Students are also welcome to bring cherished fabric scraps to incorporate into this intuitive patchwork exercise.

Students are encouraged to bring their own working machines to the workshop.

Freeman's Creative provides: Coordinating Thread and interfacing.  All students will receive 10% discount on materials purchased in the shop. Students can select to Add-On a machine rental for $7, or a Patchwork Fabric kit for $25 instead of bringing their own fabric.
